  Types of Hardwood

Hardwood conservatories are made from a variety of timbers.
The most used hardwoods are oak, mahogany, idigbo, meranti, sapele, utile and iroko. Conservatories cannot be built from all hardwoods. Hardwoods such as beech, although an excellent wood for internal use, are not durable for external use.

Increasing consideration has to be given to the use of wood
and the impact on our planet. With the rise in global warning and destruction of forestry certain woods should not be used. Friends
of the Earth have an excellent website which will show that whilst woods such as oak are good to use, commonly used timbers like Meranti are at significant risk - Click here for further details
