Only powder coated aluminium capping should be used on the roof to weatherproof the glass. These should last 10 years before any further treatment is necessary.

Wood stains and Micro-porous paints should be re-applied every 5 years. With high resin hardwoods like teak and oak these should be applied more regularly.

However, if you require a weathered look with oak, teak or iroko then oil infrequently and allow the timber to age and silver in the sun. If you require a more modern oak look then oil more frequently.

Door and window locking system should be cleaned regularly and lightly oiled every six months.
